This is us
We met in 2004 at Faith Community Christian School. We had school together for a year and Jess was my first crush. We had random interactions throughout the next 10 years, but it wasn’t until September 2014 that we really reconnected. I (Joel) randomly decided to send her a message to see how she had been over the past few years. Little did I know she was in need of a worship leader for a youth retreat she was running the following week.
My (Jess’) students called it from the beginning, but I was skeptical. I wasn’t sure if his immediate commitment to my youth group was about me or the kids. Turns out it was both! The following weekend we went out on a hike and ended up spending the day and into the night talking about our dreams and passions. Over the next week, he met with my dad and it was official!
January 17th, 2015, we were engaged; September 20th we were married. We decided that we wanted to spend our first chapter of marriage studying at Hillsong International Leadership College in Australia. And that’s where this blog finds us!
